The Intrigue and Importance of Riko Kaiju
I started my journey watching SeaDlinnng at the beginning of 2021. Not knowing anyone outside the top people, however one specific wrestler caught my eye. That person was Riko Kaiju, upon learning that she was really early into her career. I was in awe due to the fact everytime she stepped into the ring she improved. Continues to do so as well, and at 19 years of age there’s no doubt in my mind. One day not only will the Beast Kid be at the top of SeaDlinnng, but she will be at the top of joshi puroresu as a whole. With SeaDlinnng not having a lot of full time roster members. Primarily relying on freelancers, as one of the few SeaDlinnng committed roster members she gets depended on a lot.
Which is a good thing, as they’re setting her along with Honori Hana up to be the next two faces of the company. With that being said we have entered a interesting time within joshi. There are many super rookies, and rookies who look like they will be stars in a few years. You can at least find one or more in almost every promotion. It’s actually insane to witness, and Riko Kaiju is one of those that are at the top of the list.
Carving Her Own Path
Riko Kaiju was often allied with I guess you can call it the SeaDlinnng home-front. Along with fellow rookie Honori Hana as well, however she simply wasn’t receiving results. Not only that, but she continued to get frustrated when encountering Las Fresa De Egoistas’ ASUKA and Makoto. Soon Kaiju realized that a change was necessary, and after a tag match against ASUKA and Makoto teaming with Honori. That change was made when Kaiju would proceed to shove Honori away, and opted to join Las Fresa De Egoistas. Turning to the dark side, and instead of walking that straight path she carved he
She found instant results beating Honori in Korakuen Hall, and continued to have big singles matches to test herself. Then her in-ring work changed for the better recently. As she entered a feud with Yumiko Hotta, and Hotta brutalized Kaiju. Which caused Kaiju to proceed to have to be more aggressive and physical so she could stand against Hotta. While it didn’t equal a victory it did add new layers to Riko Kaiju’s development as a character and in ring worker.
Riko Kaiju has made my viewing of not just joshi, but wrestling in general a lot more fun. Just seeing someone so early into their career, but continuing to make leaps every single match is amazing. If she continues on the track she’s on then no doubt in my mind in a few years she will be one of the best in the world.
