
Villareal vs. Deportivo Alavés and Sevilla vs. Barcelona were both postponed due to late returning players from International Duty, specifically South American/CONMEBOL Qualification. Their has been confusion and much discussion surrounding players from La Liga and the English Premier League, and their players going to South America during the International period.
Much of South America is a hot-zone for COVID cases and spikes which was the main issue for the EPL. The reason for the La Liga postponed games was more due to the players only returning to their clubs on the Friday prior to Saturday’s games.
The other two games on Saturday saw Levante and Vallecano share the spoils following a 1:1 draw at the Ciudad de Valencia stadium, while Athletic Club Bilbao beat Mallorca 2:0 in San Mames. Sunday was a lot busier with all the games going ahead.
Two goals from Sociedad captain, Mikel Oyarzabal gave Erreala all 3 points in Cadiz. The result sends them 4th. Aleksander Sorloth also made his Sociedad debut, albeit from the bench. The Norwegian is on loan from RB Leipzig.
Valencia, Real and Atleti maintain their unbeaten start to to the season. Atleti beating Espanyol 2:1 away from home, Valencia thumping Osasuna 4:1 in Pamplona and Madrid knocking five passed Vigo for a 5:2 win. Eduardo Camavinga had a debut to remember for Los Blancos, scoring off the bench in his Madrid debut.
