The poor start to the season for Deportivo Alavés and Getafe continues. Alavés are rooted to the foot of the table, conceding 8 goals and only finding the net once in the first 3 games of the season. Getafe are in a similar position, are less leaky at the back but still struggling to score goals from the small amount of chances they create, neither side have a single point on the board yet. Both sides avoiding relegation by 4 points last season, it looks like another relegation threatened season for both clubs.
Back to back wins at Anoeta for Real Sociedad sees them climb up the table following their opening round loss to Barcelona, a brilliant piece of play by Ander Barrenetxea and David Silva secured the 3 points. Though, Barrenetxea’s shot was deflected in off Duarte in a bit of luck for Erreala. Mallorca, Atleti, Valenca, Barca, Real Madrid and Sevilla all continue their unbeaten start to the season. Atleti’s record comes with a bit of luck, trailing Villarreal 2-1 at the Wanda Metropolitano when deep in stoppage time a calamity occurred at the back for Villarreal.
The ball came to Aissa Mandi who tried to cushion a header back towards his goalkeeper. Mandi appears to have not checked where Rulli was, but Rulli was heading away from the trajectory of Mandi’s headed pass. Rulli tried to react and change direction but it was not enough and the ball trickled into the goal. Villarreal players heartbroken.
