Matchday 1
La Liga kicking off the 21/22 campaign in Valencia at the Mestalla as they take on Getafe. Real Madrid start off their campaign in the Basque Country as they travel to face Deportivo Alaves. Real’s city rivals and last years champions, Atletico Madrid, travel to Galician to take on Celta Vigo.
Barcelona kick off their season in the Camp Nou as Real Sociedad travel down from San Sebastian. Elsewhere, Levante travel to Cadiz, Villareal host Granada and Bilbao head to Elche. Fans are also making their return, though local guidelines vary.
Following their promotions Real Mallorca host Betis, Segunda Division Champions Espanyol go to Osasuna and Vallecano are away to Sevilla.

Both sides finished with 10 men each at the Mestalla. Guillamón got sent off in the 3rd minute for the home side, Getafe’s Cabaco was given his marching orders in the 76th minute.

Foyth got sent off in the 82nd minute in a game with not much of note occuring.

Real Mallorca got their first win of the season away to Alaves, Fer Nino grabbing a goal late on. Mallorca were well worth the win and looked to be the better team throughout the game. After going ahead Bilbao were held to a draw at San Mames, Depay getting his first goal for Los Blaugrana to secure a point late on. Erik Lamela added to his brace from last week with another goal to give Sevilla the win over Getafe.
Sociedad got their first points of the season at home at the Anoeta. A goal through captain Mikel Oyarzabal from the penalty spot. A valiant effort from the visitors however, and the scoreline could have been in their favour on another day. Sociedad were wasteful with their chances. Levante and Madrid had the best game of the round, a 6 goal thriller in the Ciudád de Valencia Stadium. Levante were robbed of a victory by a late goal from Vini Junior.
