The 3rd week of Bundesliga.1 action opened on Friday night in Westphalia. Dortmund welcomed Hoffenheim to the Westfalenstadion. Dortmund’s form has stuttered since the opening round of fixtures, losing in the SuperCup to Munich last Tuesday and Freiburg over the weekend. The game was physical, in particular from the visitors as Dortmund continued to get used to Rose’s Diamond system. The first half was frustrating for Dortmund as chances were squandered and restricted by Hoffenheim. The game opened up after Gio Reyna opened the scoring. Baumgartner got an equaliser for Hoffenheim, Bellingham put BVB ahead a few minutes later with a nice finish on his weaker foot. Late drama ensued as Dabbur thought he won a point for Hoffenheim after scoring in the 90th from a corner. Erling Haaland had other ideas as Dortmund rushed down towards the Hoffenheim after the restart, the ball came to Haaland in the box and he blasted the ball into the net.
Elsewhere over the course of the weekend, Wolfsburg continue their winning ways and are the only club with 9 points from the 3 opening games. Leverkusen put four past Augsburg and Munich battered Hertha Berlin at home. Hertha are now the only club without a single point on the board. Also, a dramatic finish to the FC Köln vs. VfL Bochum game, with all the goals coming in the last 8 minutes.
