RBL opened the weekends proceedings on Friday with dominant home display against Stuttgart, a brace for the Hungarian starlet Dominik Szoboszlai a highlight for Die Roten Bullen. A brave Stuttgart showing, a side still trying to re-establish themselves in the German top flight since their relegation to the 2nd tier in 15/16 and have been up and down since.
A disappointing week for Die Schwarzgelben continued on Saturday. Dortmund lost the Der Klassiker in the SuperCup during the week, followed by a shock defeat away to Freiburg on Saturday afternoon. Bayer Leverkusen turned it on for their fans at the Bay Arena on Saturday evening as Sky Sports featured Saturday game. M’gladbach, and their goalkeeper Yann Sommer had a terrible day. Sommer gave Bayer 04 the lead with an own goal, and Bayer then added three goals of their own.
The weekends matches concluded with a brilliant clash between champions FC Bayern and FC Köln. FC Köln had FCB at a draw after a goal apiece from Modeste and Uth. Gnabry scored his 2nd and Bayern’s 3rd to give the Bavarians the victory over a valiant FC Köln side.
